Your heart-work stays yours

How Sakeenah treats what you write, recite, and keep — on your phone, in your account, and on this website.

Last updated 21 October 2026

  • Local first

Journals, reflections, counters, and walk progress stay on your device unless you clear them.

  • Account is small

Sign-in, pathway names you have begun, reminder settings, and a lifetime salawat total. Not your notes.

  • No ads, no sale

We do not sell your information and we do not show advertisements in the app.

Sakeenah is designed so spiritual growth feels safe. This policy explains what stays on your phone, what is tied to your account, what this website collects, and why. You can always see what is stored and what is shared. There is no hidden behavior.

Who we are

This policy is for Sakeenah, a guided Islamic app and the website at sakeenah.live. Questions about privacy can be sent to rehansattar117@gmail.com.

What this policy covers

It covers the Sakeenah mobile app (iOS and Android) and this website, including the waitlist and newsletter form.

It does not cover other sites or apps we may link to. Those have their own policies.

Summary

Your personal heart-work stays on this device: journals, reflections, most counters, walk progress, and honesty answers.

Your account holds only what is needed to sign you in, remember which pathways you have begun, send gentle reminders you can turn off in Settings, and keep a simple lifetime salawat total.

You can permanently delete that account from Settings in the app, or at sakeenah.live/delete-account. Deletion cannot be undone.

This website may collect your name and email if you join the waitlist, so we can write to you about Sakeenah.

Information stored on your device

These stay on the phone unless you clear them in Settings. They are not sent to our servers.

  • Journals, Moment reflections, and saved Moments
  • Tasbih, zikr, and qaza counters, plus your salawat reading history
  • Focus tasks, sessions, and Fajr logs
  • Pathway stage progress, practice ticks, journals, and honesty answers
  • Journey heatmap and milestone dates
  • Optional location used only for prayer times and Friday Jummah timing
  • Jummah reminder preferences (scheduled on this device only)
  • App settings and display preferences you choose in the app

Information tied to your account

When you create an account and sign in, we store what is needed to keep the app working with that account.

  • Email and sign-in details for your account
  • The display name used in greetings
  • Which pathways you have begun: the pathway name only, not your notes
  • A device notification token so we can send the gentle reminders you choose
  • Your timezone and which reminder types are on, so nudges arrive at the right local hour
  • A lifetime salawat count only (how many you have recited in total) — not which durood or when

This website and the waitlist

If you join the waitlist or newsletter on sakeenah.live, we collect the first name, last name, and email address you enter so we can send updates about Sakeenah. You can unsubscribe from those emails at any time.

Waitlist sign-ups are processed by Loops, our email provider, acting on our instructions.

The website may also use privacy-respecting analytics (including Vercel Analytics, and Google Analytics if it is enabled) to understand how the site is used — for example page views. This is separate from the mobile app. The app does not send your journals or counters to these tools.

Location

Sakeenah may ask for your location only to show prayer times for where you are, and to time Friday Jummah reminders that use Asr.

That location stays on this device. It is optional. The rest of the app works without it. You can deny or later revoke location permission in your phone settings.

Notifications

With your permission, we may send calm reminders for Pathways, salawat, Moments, a daily verse, tasbih, journaling, qaza, and Qasida Burda at fixed local times.

Moments and Burda taps open a public library item by slug only. Friday Jummah reminders are scheduled on this device only and never leave it.

You can turn each gentle reminder type off in Settings, and you can revoke notification permission in your phone settings. Journals, honesty answers, and counters never leave the device as part of a reminder.

Public teaching content

Pathway catalogs, Moments, and Qasida Burda chapters come from our public teaching library. That is content for the walk, not your personal heart-work. Fetching it does not upload your journals or counters.

How we use information

We use information only to run Sakeenah for you.

  • To create and keep your account, and to sign you in
  • To remember which pathways you have begun
  • To send the reminders you have allowed, at the right local hour
  • To keep a simple lifetime salawat total across the account
  • To show prayer times and Jummah timing when you allow location on the device
  • To send waitlist or newsletter email if you asked for it on this website
  • To understand, in aggregate, how this website is used so we can improve it
  • To reply if you contact us

Who helps us run the service

We do not sell your information. We do not share your heart-work with advertisers. The services below process only what is needed for the feature they support.

  • Supabase — account sign-in and the small account fields listed above
  • Sanity — public teaching content (pathways, Moments, Qasida Burda)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging via Expo — delivery of the gentle reminders you choose
  • Loops — waitlist and newsletter email from this website
  • Vercel (and Google Analytics if enabled) — website hosting and site analytics, not app journals

How long we keep information

Information on your device stays there until you clear it in Settings, or until you uninstall the app or clear the app’s data on your phone.

Account information is kept while your account exists so the app can keep working for you. You can delete it from Settings in the app, or at sakeenah.live/delete-account. What that removes is described under Delete your account.

Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.

Clearing the phone in Settings does not delete your account, and it does not forget which pathways you have begun.

Security

We use standard industry protections for account sign-in and for the small account fields stored with our backend. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Keep your sign-in details private.

Because journals, honesty answers, and most counters live on the device, anyone with access to your unlocked phone may be able to open them. Use your phone’s lock screen.

Your choices

You control a great deal of this without writing to us.

  • Turn reminder types off in Settings, or revoke notification permission on the phone
  • Deny or revoke location permission; prayer times and Jummah timing that need it will not run
  • Clear journals, counters, notes, and walk progress saved on this phone from Settings
  • Unsubscribe from waitlist or newsletter email using the link in those messages
  • Delete your account from Settings in the app, or at sakeenah.live/delete-account
  • Email rehansattar117@gmail.com to ask what we hold or to correct a display name

Delete your account

You can permanently delete your Sakeenah account from Settings in the app, or at sakeenah.live/delete-account. We delete it right away. This cannot be undone, and you will need a new account to use Sakeenah again.

If you delete from Settings on this phone, we also clear journals, reflections, counters, and walk progress saved for that account on this phone. Theme and optional prayer location on the device stay.

If you delete at sakeenah.live/delete-account, you confirm it is you with the same email and password you use to sign in. That page removes the account on our servers. It cannot clear a phone. Journals and counters already on a device stay until you clear them in Settings, or until you uninstall the app.

Waitlist or newsletter email is separate from your app account. Deleting the account does not unsubscribe you. Use the link in those emails, or write to us.

Either way, we remove your sign-in and the account fields we hold:

  • Email and sign-in details
  • Display name
  • Pathway names you have begun, not your notes
  • Reminder settings and the device notification token
  • Lifetime salawat total

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not show advertisements. We do not send your journals, honesty answers, tasbih counts, focus tasks, or salawat history details to our servers — only the lifetime salawat total described above.

Children

Sakeenah is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will help remove it.

Where information is processed

Our backend, content library, email, and notification providers may process account, waitlist, or delivery data on servers outside the country you live in. We use them only for the purposes in this policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page with a new date. If a change is material, we will also note it in the app where we reasonably can.
